Barbara Cameron was a long time member of the MRC. She regularly attended our Brown Bag Lunches and her love for life and learning was evident each time we saw her at one of these events. She seemed to attend any event that MRC put on, including our annual membership meeting. After we had to cancel our Brown Bag Presentations due to lack of funding, Barbara continued to ask after then whenever she happened to stop by the Lagoon House. Barbara died at age 81 on January 9, 2012. A mother of five from New Jersey, she devoted her life to others, fostering 43 children over 29 years while living in Texas. The children and friends of Barbara Cameron raised enough money for the Marine Resources Council to reinstate the Brown Bag Presentations. This program is dear to many people in our community and is a wonderful opportunity for individuals to learn about environmental topics and happenings in our local area. We are thankful for the opportunity to honor Barbara by presenting the 2012 Barbara Cameron Brown Bag Lunch Series in her memory.
The Barbara Cameron Brown Bag Lunch Series will continue on the same schedule the Brown Bag had before: it will be held every Tuesday at noon at the Lagoon House in Palm Bay: 3275 Dixie Hwy. NE, Palm Bay, FL 32905. For more information go to www.mrcirl.org or call us at 321-725-7775.
Our first scheduled Brown Bag is going to be on March 13, presented by Julie Albert of the Marine Resources Council. She will be talking about the right whale program here at the MRC and what hazards these endangered animals face while migrating to the waters of Florida and Georgia to give birth. She'll update you on what has been going on this whale season and tell you what you can do to help!
Thank you to the children and friends of Barbara Cameron for making this all possible again! We look forward to seeing you all here!
