March 13 - Whale Watching, North Atlantic Right Whales

Join us at noon for a presentation by our own Julie Albert on the North Atlatic right whale, one of the most endangered of the great whales. They only give birth in the waters of Florida and Georgia. Since 1995, the right whale volunteer network has reported whale sightings to local ship traffic in the hope of reducing collisions. Since 2001, the MRC right whale program has collaborated with Associated Scientists at Woods Hole and Marineland to conduct research and continue to protect these whales from human impacts. Julie will tell you why it is so important to protect this whale, and what you can do to see them here locally and help them survive.

It has also been brought to my attention that on the City of Melbourne events calendar the Brown Bags are listed as beginning at 1:00 pm. This is a mistake, though I am not sure that the City of Melbourne will be able to fix it. The presentations will be at noon, as they always were before. If anyone has any questions, please give us a shout through email or phone.

Again, the presentations are at noon, beginning March 13!
